For nearly a year Syria has been distraught by civil war. But all this could end with a referendum that could change the one party system that has been thriving for 50 years. President Bashar al-Assad proposed the referendum last week in an effort to end the bloodshed, but many Syrians say they fear going to the ballot box. So could ballots supersede the bullets?
